ABOUT:
Nice size sparklers that dangle beautifully from the ears. These antique daisy cluster earrings hold about carats total weight in old mine (and a few brilliant) cut diamonds. The center stone is raised in prongs slightly, then surrounded by a halo of eight diamonds, with a bezel set diamond at the top to complete the stud portion of the earring.

Beautiful movement. Crafted in 10k gold with the prongs and bezel topped in silver as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.

The majority of the diamonds are old mine cut, but there are three transitional cuts on one earring (two in the halo and one in the stud) and one in the halo of the other earring. This isn't really evident while wearing, as the cluster as a whole doesn't show a glaring difference. They are all still older cutting methods so I am guessing these are from the Art Deco period because they don't show signs of repair. The old mine cuts would predate that so perhaps they were made with diamonds from another piece with the transitional diamonds filled in? Because again they don't appear to be replacements when all the wear is uniform and there are no signs of a repair.

Found in Spain, no hallmarks but the backs of the clusters, the posts and the push backs test at 10k gold and the prongs appear to be silver. The gold has a beautiful rosy hue.

Antique Box IS Included! These old boxes are collectible and hold value. The box is not fitted for the earrings and are not original to the piece, but I am including it as a gift because it's always fun to store our antique goodies in period appropriate housing : )

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The clusters are 12mm in diameter. They are 18mm from the top of the stud to the bottom of the cluster. The tiered cluster portions have a depth of 9mm.

The center diamonds are 4.1mm. The outlining diamonds are 3-3.4mm each. I would not remove them for exact weight but estimates to over 3 carats total weight in old cut diamonds.

The pair weighs 6 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Again there are the aforementioned few transitional cut diamonds. If you have great vision you might be able to seek out the difference in faceting but the old mine cuts have varying forms and different sized open culets so they reflect the light differently from one to another as well. Varying warm hues to the stones typical for the period. Two stones on one earring have flakes of loss to one edge leaving an unpolished area - they still appear complete and round in the settings but have that frosty uneven area. Varying natural inclusions to the stones, no large inky carbon spots, but one has a smattering of crystal inclusions with some pin point carbon, and one has a small carbon spot on one outside edge. About half dozen of the stones appear quite frosty throughout but the grouping of 3 carats still have a great sparkle and a wonderful antique look. These are all things you can seek out in the zoomed photos which will highlight it much more than while wearing and they are priced accordingly with these quirks in mind. Not recommended for 24/7 wear (these aren't the style that are typically slept in anyway) as there is wear to several of the outside prongs. None of the stones move and earrings are by nature more gently worn anyway but I don't really recommend all day every day wear on any of my antique pieces.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
