ABOUT:
Glittery classic French antique bangle, this one for a smaller wrist size which can be harder to find!
This sparkly French antique bangle bracelet is set with 15 old mine cut diamonds totaling around 3.4 carats.

A Victorian era to turn of the century piece, it is crafted entirely in rich and buttery, glowing 18k gold with platinum prongs holding up each of the deliciously chunky old mine cuts with their open cutlets, allowing them to crop out of the face of the bracelet to catch the light. For antique stones these have a nice and bright white coloring. They graduate slightly in size to make a beautiful line across the wrist. Please note the measurements, I have a small wrist and am required to present zoom photos so it can be hard to determine scale.

Secure bangle to wear with safety chain and latch. There is a hole drilled at the back for the addition of a charm on a jump ring if desired.

Also lovely to find that there are no real ripples or deep dings as sometimes found on antique bangles. It is quite sturdy with a tight hinge and a strong clickity clack latch. : ). This is one I'd be happy to keep, so close to a size that fits me, but I have one with old mine cuts with hues so I'm letting this one free.

Found in Paris with the French hallmarks for 18k gold and platinum on the tongue insert.

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:

Measuring 5.4mm north south at the widest area and stands 6.5mm tall off the wrist, give or take depending on the height of the diamond crowns.

It's difficult to measure the exact inside circumference but it is around 6 1/8 inches trying to wrap a tape measure around the inside. I have a 5 1/2 inch wrist and it fits me quite well, it won't slip off my hand, but could fit a bit larger wrist as well, as the diamonds can spin around to the underside on my wrist. The inside measurements measuring the cross sections (to compare with your bracelets at home or to draw it out for scale) are 57.1mm by 46.3mm oval. The safety chain is a little over 2 inches long to expand it when open.

It weighs 14.2 grams.

The old mine cuts start at 2.5 and 2.8mm, the smallest on each end, tapering up to 4.9mm at the center (and around half carat). Eight stones are in the 3 to 4mm range and four of them surrounding the center stone measure in the 4.2 to 4.4mm range.
I would never remove the diamonds from the antique piece for an exact measurement, but I measured each stone under magnification coming to a total of about 3.4 carats total weight in antique diamonds. Exact depths are unknown as I could not reach them with my caliper as they are set so this is an estimate.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The push button clasp is very strong with the added safety chain as well. The hinge is as sturdy as can be found.

Typical antique hand cut diamonds with some natural inclusions. Some are eye clean. The rest have some natural inclusions typical for antique stones, slightly eye visible to eye visible with a smattering or streaking of frosty or icy speck inclusions. Nothing super glaring and no large dark or inky carbon spots. One stone has an area of indented natural inclusions where an inclusion occurs at the surface resulting in a slightly unpolished area. Slightly eye visible but not really to my eyes which are in my forties : ). One stone has some nibbles to the girdle edge but this is not eye visible. Some slight warmth here or there, but None appear dingy or lifeless. They have a bright color and lively fire to them. These were cut long before the "Four C's" scale was invented for modern machine cut diamonds with their mathematically perfected facets. The modern grading scale for diamonds doesn't typical do justice to the uniqueness of these stones that were hand cut with methods and standards no longer practiced.

There is wear to the prongs so I have priced it accordingly and recommend gentler wear as opposed to having the stones rattle against other pieces in a big stack. I had planned to price it higher because it was costly to acquire in Paris, until I saw this as there are some prongs worn all the way back. Enough remains to hold each stone without any movement as each stone is held in six places, but again the gold settings do show wear. Reinforcement is always possible if desired by your local jeweler, you'd want to find someone with a laser welder and ask them to do the minimum rather than making the piece "like new" and potentially overworking it. Most of my buyers prefer original condition so I am selling it as is.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
