ABOUT:
Beautifully sparkling little antique pale yellow old mine cut diamond solitaire with a nice and sturdy shank. Would be a beautiful and unique engagement ring and makes a great stacker. The prongs are in great shape as well making it ready for daily wear which we love to see on antiques.
It has an awesome old mine diamond cut with a very pretty, warm pale yellow hue set in an elegant and classic prong setting raised above the shank.
In some light the stone is a noticeable yellow, seemingly when viewed in lower light. In other light is more of a warmth to the stone. I am hoping the group photo and video will help compare the tint to some of my whiter stones.
I purchased the piece at a jewelry store in Wisconsin near where I grew up, while accompanying my husband on a work trip and between visiting my cousins : ). I always seek out antiques even when traveling for fun or on vacation and this one was a pleasant surprise. I purchased several pieces from that store.
Antique box used for staging is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Ring is currently a size 7. The diamond is 4.5mm and estimated a little over .4 carat (I do not remove stones from their antique settings for exact measurements.) It weighs 2 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamond has some nibbles and tiny chips on one side, mostly hidden under one prong but leaving a bit of a frosty spot there by the girdle of the stone. It is barely eye visible (and not at all eye visible to my eyes which are in their forties : ). There is also a linear crystal inclusion that is slightly eye visible if you are seeking it out and an indented natural inclusion on one facet that is seen under magnification. Typical characteristics of hand cut antique diamonds that were created in much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of modern diamonds produced each year now. Ready to wear, lovely color.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any glaring issues above and they are all still wearable.
