ABOUT:

This is a personal collection release. Here in Minnesota, we wear long sleeves half the year so I don't get the opportunity to show of as many bracelets as I'd like so I am paring down my collection. : )

This one has it all - buttery glow, beautiful movement to the 18k gold double cable link chain, a beautiful floral design and the fabulous sparkle of the domed rose cut diamonds - 43 diamonds in all!

Also nice to see that the diamonds aren't the thinly sliced disks, but rather have a nicely domed top for that added rough cut texture. The diamond settings are crafted in silver as was customary for the period, with gold backing so as not to tarnish the wrist. The largest diamonds in the center are set in square bezels and in between each of those, splays out two little tulip shaped floral bezels each set with a diamond. All the pieces are connected by loops in independent settings so that the piece can flex and move so that the diamonds can catch the light and sparkle.

So beautiful in a wrist stack!

French hallmarks for 18k gold on the tongue insert of the clasp.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:

The rose cuts are each about 2.9mm for the 13 larger ones in the center square settings. The smaller ones are about 2mm each give or take. Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. Rose cut diamonds are typically quite spready. So it is difficult to speculate on carat weight when we can’t determine depth without removing them from the setting, which I would never do. But if you were to compare the diameters to brilliant cut diamonds, this piece has the appearance of over 2 carats in diamonds.

It weighs 14.5 grams. The face of the bracelet is about 9.3mm north to south, the chain in the back 6.5mm. It is about 7 inches in length. It has a safety chain allowing it to be opened to fit a wider wrist. I have a 5 1/2 inch wrist and it is a bit too large for me. : ( It spins around my wrist and I can slide it off my hand without opening. I would get away with wearing it in a stack, or it could fit a larger wrist.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique rose cuts with irregular shapes, some frosty unpolished edges, some small frosty spots with a natural inclusion here or there. They tend to always look like this and most of what is seen is just how they were cut since these old diamonds were cut by hand. It is not noticeable to the eye as they appear complete adding that awesome antique sparkle to the square settings.

Surface wear to the gold and some of the links have some shallow ripples here and there. The links being hollow as was customary for the period, some have a small hole where the gold has worn but again this is not really visible. The links are still stable. It actually has a very nice quality, sturdy hand feel, it's just 150 years of wear on the gold so some of this should be expected. Some darker patina in spots. There is some verdigris only at the loop where the safety chain was added, so they must have used a solder that shows some deterioration. The piece is in solid 18k gold and silver so it is just that one connection point. It is a bit less crisp in detail in that area as well, from the heat that was used or perhaps some fortification to the loops there. You can see this in the zoom pics if you are seeking it out but it is not evident while wearing. The piece has beautiful detail, a unique antique design.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I have many more antique pieces listed so please see my other items and thanks for stopping by!
