ABOUT:

Timeless antique design that is easy to wear. This one has a center hand old mine cut diamond measuring a little over half a carat (0.55ctw) set in a platinum bezel that has an openwork halo around it. Sleek domed shoulders lead up to the interesting geometric face. The bezel setting makes it a lower profile so it doesn't catch on things compared to taller solitaires. A classic look that layers well with bands.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today. This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. Rings such as this were also a popular choice for men to wear during this period as well so it is a true unisex ring.

Found in France and has their 18k symbol hallmark.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 1/4
Weight: 3.4g
The center stone is about 4.8mm and has a nice chunky cut / depth to it. It is conservatively about .55 carat but the edges of the stone are tucked under the bezel so its actual measurement would be larger than advertised. However since I can't get at the girdle, this is an estimation as I would never remove them from the setting for exact.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The shank is quite thin in the back and slightly out of round. It does not flex so it is certainly stable to wear, but just tapers quite thin. The diamond moves in the bezel and "clicks" when you tap it. There is wear and unevenness to the platinum bezel including a tiny hairline fissure to it, but the stone is still surrounded on all edges so it doesn't seem eager to come free. Still with antiques in original condition we always recommend gentler wear.

Typical antique diamond with eye visible inclusions, including some frosty specks and a carbon spot. These are not glaring, the diamond has a nice life to it, but you can see the inclusions if you are looking for them so this is not the ring for people who like their diamonds crystal clear and bright white. However it is typical and expected for diamonds of this age, cut in much more limited supply long before the Four C's.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
