ABOUT:
The sweetest little chunky antique diamond dangle measuring over half a carat. In a versatile bezel setting, the old mine cut diamond is pear in shape! Always fun to find antique diamonds in alternative shapes besides the more common round! I love the way the lofty crown and deep pavilion crop out of both sides of the piece, highlighting the chunky cut.
This one dangled off a French antique 18k stick pin. The little tube like bezel is in 18k white gold. The loop on it was so small we added a gold jump ring for two tone coloring. The best one we could find in our parts stock was still antique, still French but is stamped with their hallmark for 9k gold.
This would be a beautiful minimalist pendant or can also be added to a bracelet for some wonderful antique sparkle.
No nicks, chips or cracks a faint wisp inclusion and two frosty spots above the culet but these are seen more under magnification and only very slightly eye visible. Typical antique diamond with a slight warmth to the eye, often chosen intentionally by diamond cutters of the time and even sought after by collectors. As this was hand cut long before the four c's of grading modern diamonds ever existed. It wears white but warms up more in direct light.
Antique boxes / props or other items in group shot not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
8.7mm to the attached loop, not including the jump ring by 4.8mm. 0.8 grams.
The diamond is about 6.2x4.2mm. I would not remove it for an exact measurement but estimates to over half carat, about 0.54.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note the jump ring is still quite small. Also note the belly of the diamond protruding makes it teeter so it will not lie flat on the decollette, rather it will swivel to catch the light and sparkle : )
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
