ABOUT:
A classic antique solitaire, this one with a rose cut diamond that faces up at almost 1 carat. Timeless setting with open work forked shoulders and a little banded detail on each side, the shoulders leading up to the bezel set rose cut which has a domed and foiled closed back.
Comfortable ring face with the elegant bezel setting that remains low profile so it won't catch on things. The piece has some nice height at the sturdy shoulders.
Found in the Netherlands, no hallmarks remain but tests at 14k gold.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

The ring face is 6.6mm north south and stands about 4.4mm tall off the finger.
The diamond is about 6.2mm in diameter, so it faces up at about .9 carat. (Note - Rose cuts are always difficult to estimate because there aren't any great formulas out there for calculating carat weight without removing them and putting them on a scale which I would not do for fear of ruining the antique setting. With the flat backs, rose cuts are spreader with a lower carat weight typically than modern diamonds with pavilions. If you were to estimate how it "faces up" by millimeter this stone wears like a .95 carat solitaire.)
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No damage, chips or cracks. Typical antique diamond with some very small speck inclusions, only very slightly eye visible and seen more under magnification. For an antique rose cut it has a very nice clarity. This one has a moodier vibe, facing up gray due to the foil back, but then brightening / whitening up with movement as the foil still has a nice reflectivity. I tried to display this in the video which was taken in ambient light. Some wear to the foil but it does not have any rusty or muddiness. No dark carbon and nothing glaring. Shank has a bit of a blunt edge when you rub your finger across it. Not recommended for 24/7 wear as these closed back settings should avoid getting wet. That being the only caveat as, for an antique ring, this one is super sturdy and wearable and ready for regular wear.
Please note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please also note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
