ABOUT:
I'm always looking for old cut diamonds in yellow gold settings and this one is an all original antique. A true and elegant classic. Crafted in 14k gold that has a delicious, rich and warm patina, the sleek and timeless setting holds up to the .7 carat prong set old European cut diamond to catch the light. Domed and banded details at each shoulder give the piece a lovely design and stackability to wear with a flat band. And the old European cut with its classic pinwheel faceting has a wonderful clarity and fire. It has a nice white color and displays an excellent Kozibe effect. The basket setting is in contrasting white gold as was customary for the period to set the diamond in a white metal.
The prongs are in excellent shape making this one ready for regular wear as an engagement ring. Or it also has a really nice height for layering and stacking as mentioned. The stone is prong set at each of the four corners, with two prongs holding the stone and a center third prong that is intentionally set back to give the ring setting a square shape. It also provides the visual affect of making the ring head / diamond look larger by adding white metal to the corners of the stone increasing its scale.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 on my mandrel, should be sizable to a decent extent with the prongs in such great shape, best to discuss with the person doing the work to determine their comfort level as to how far. It stands 5.4mm tall off the finger. It weighs 2.2 grams.
I do not remove my stones from their antique settings for exact measurements but the diamond measures about 5.45mm and an estimated weight of almost 0.7 carat.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All antique hand cut diamonds of course have a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time. This one has some natural inclusions - one that is a very small cloud and the others are just smaller frosty specks. These are not at all glaring, certainly not visible to my eyes but slightly to very slightly eye visible using the pickier grading scales. No damage to the stone and no dark carbon spots. No strong warmth to the stone and a nice rainbow fire. A lively stone in its original
Ready for daily wear which is hard to find in antiques.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
