ABOUT:
Wow does this one jump off the hand while wearing! So many fun elements with the gorgeous fuchsia pink color, all the ornate filigree details and the sparkle from the diamonds.
This Art Deco antique piece is also unique in that the rubies appear to be a French cut with a square table and triangular facets. The center stone is square and the channel set rubies in the halo are more elongated / rectangular but again with the triangular scissor cuts. I've not seen a ring with this type of halo before so it just has a wonderful geometry to it. Looking at the color and clarity, we assume the ruby is synthetic, a popular choice for the period so we are selling it as such.
Three little old single cut diamonds accent each side for sparkle. The ring face appears as an east west platform with triangular sides, and underneath we see all the beautiful intricate filigree details including flowers at each shoulder. I sometimes see rings where the filigree work is stamped and a bit muddled but one is really crisp and beautiful.
There's a maker's mark and a number 4 stamped inside. No purity marks but tests at 14k. The ring face tests a bit stronger than the back of the shank so it appears to have been sized but all are a minimum of 14k.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 7 1/2. It weighs 3.2 grams.
The center ruby is about 5.2mm square. The diamonds are 1.3 to 1.8mm each.
The ring face is 9mm wide north to the south on the finger and it stands 6mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some nibbles to the table facets and a few deeper abrasions to the side facets that can sometimes catch the light but I can't see this with my eyes - the overall sheen and fabulous color is very good. No real damage or any issues, it's a beautiful ring. : )
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
