I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Elegant Victorian old mine cut diamond earrings in a classic and ornate buttercup setting. Chunky old mine cuts are prong set above the tiers of scalloped details which create a domed shape to the earrings for a beautiful depth while wearing.
These have a black enamel halo around the diamond settings for contrast. Looking at the ear posts and push backs, I think those were a later addition in the vintage period. I think the buttercup portion of the studs might have been buttons at one time and perhaps converted?
I love that buttercup design, such a great antique look. I purchased these in France and they have the French hallmarks for 18k on the post.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
They measure about 10.5mm in diameter with a depth of 6.5mm just measuring the portion that shows while wearing, not including the ear posts. The diamonds are 3.5mm each and nice and chunky. I can't get an accurate depth measurement and I would not remove them but estimates to about half a carat total weight.
They weigh 3.25g combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some wear to the enamel and loss of the black coloring to the gold underneath. One halo appears a bit thinner than the other. It sounds crazy but I would use a sharpie to fill this in if they were mine, as that would complete the black coloring with little to no difference to the eye. This is not a permanent solution but lasts quite awhile and is a lot more non-invasive than enamel repair which can end up looking muddy or damaging the gold, as it is a bit of a lost art. Or wear them as is, since the enamel is subtle anyway and while on opposite sides of the head the difference wouldn't be noticeable.
Some faint frosty speck inclusions typical for the period to the antique diamonds but nothing glaring. They read warmer in color than they actually are due to the yellow gold setting.
Push backs are sturdy but some wear to the bead prongs on one earring more than the other. For these 175 year old pieces I don't really ever recommend 24/7 wear or lying down on gold of that age but once on the ear they are certainly wearable and very beautiful.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
