Antique c1879 I CLING to THEE Ivy Wide Band Ring 4.7g 18k Gold Stacker Wedding Posey Engagement Victorian

I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

Incredibly romantic, sentimental and a fine quality antique wide band ring reading "I Cling to Thee" across the ring face with Ivy designs at the shoulders and above and below the text. This is a fine example because these are often found in lower carat gold, lighter weight and often the text is worn or muddled. This one is super clear and legible with the text rising above a pebble textured background. It is crafted in 18k gold with a sturdy hand feel.

UK hallmarks also clear and legible for 18k, Birmingham, date stamp 1879.

The ivy motif was popular in Victorian times in jewelry as it represents life and eternity (essentially immortality), along with clinging attachment. It also was used to express fidelity and friendship.

I love jewelry with words and have one of these in my PC that is actually quite inferior to this one : ).As mentioned this is one of the better ones I've come across in my decade of doing this.

High shine in glowing yellow gold. Not a lot of patina on this one but the hallmarks prove the age.

Antique box / props, mice ; ) etc. not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Currently a size 5 3/4. The band is 9.2mm at the widest in the center and tapers to 3.1mm. It weighs 4.7 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Apologies for the little reflection of green, I was wearing a Green Bay Packers t-shirt when I photographed it that reflected off the gold. (Go Pack Go!)

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
