ABOUT:
Sturdy five stone gypsy band with flush mount old mine cut diamonds. Fun to find one with diamonds that have a hue - these all have a fabulous warm champagne color to them. The hues vary slightly as does the size of their culets but wonderful to find in antique stones. Subtle in some light reading like a lovely warmth, but more visible under magnification.

Gypsy and five stone bands are always very popular in the shop. This one is scarce and sought after for a few reasons - the first is that all antique hand cut antique diamonds of course have a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time.

The second is the color - it is believed that only 1 carat in every 10,000 carats mined are diamonds with hues. So putting the old hand cut together with the color makes a champagne OMC even more scarce.

Sleek and high shine setting with thick ring face. It is crafted in 14k gold (tested) that reads as a pale yellow with a slightly rosy hue.

Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

Ring is currently about a size 8 1/2, slightly over but does not reach 8 1/4. The piece weighs 4.4g. 5.7mm north south on the finger by 2.8mm thick / tall.
The center diamond is the largest at 3mm tapering down slightly towards the ends to 2.5mm. They widen out some in the bezels but I would not remove them for each measurements. It is around .4 carat total weight in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The diamonds move slightly in the bezels with one end stone sitting a bit lower in the setting but they do not seem in danger of falling out. Typical antique diamonds with some natural inclusions seen mostly under magnification, one of the smallest has a frosty area (we typically see inclusions in natural antique diamonds with hues) but no dark or carbon spots. One of the diamonds has some shallow flakes of loss leaving an unpolished area but it still appears complete and round in the bezel. Highly polished band. There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
