Antique CLASP Pendant Ornate Scroll Old Single Cut Rose Baguette Cut DIAMOND 18k White Gold Marquise Art Deco

ABOUT:

Sparkly larger sized clasp pendant set with mixed old cut diamonds. These old ornate clasps are hard to come by as this is a salvaged antique one and not a modern reproduction. These make excellent pendants, where you can attached a chain to each side, wear it to the front, side or back, or hang it from one end on a chain so it dangles down. Ornate and sparkly.

The diamonds are a mix of old single cuts and rose cuts with the center stone flanked by a baguette cut on each side. As a special treat, the tongue insert, which is often times just metal, is set with two diamonds, so that it nests into the body of the clasp and disguises itself.

Functions perfectly with sturdy fabrication, the clasp has great tension with the tongue insert securing with a snap.

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

I found this in Switzerland. I can't find any hallmarks but it is clearly a precious metal and not silver. It was sold to me as white gold or platinum. I think it is white gold as there is a slightly warm glow to the tongue insert but I don't have a very reliable test to differentiate this to say for certain, and I don't like scratch testing ornate settings like this, but it would go with any white gold, platinum or silver chain.

MEASUREMENTS:

25mm end to end by 9.5mm wide and 4.7mm deep as there are some layers to it with the bezel set diamond being slightly raised. It weighs 2.7 grams. The largest center diamond is 3.3mm. There are 11 other stones that are 1.5 to 1.8mm each. Depths vary and exact weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

One stone at the tip of the clasp insert is missing. At first I thought it was just an open work detail as the piece has several but I can see some tiny prongs under magnification so I assume it had a stone there at some point. This is not glaring. Surface wear and a little bit of buildup. Typical antique diamonds with faint natural inclusions but the stones are small so this is not really eye visible. Functions very well. Please note the small loops on each end. You would likely need to add a larger jump ring that opens to attach it to a chain.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
