ABOUT:
A gorgeous deep purple amethyst surrounded by a halo of sparkly white topaz. This one looks like it was a closed back setting originally, with domed and scalloped "ring butt" as we call it in the trade. It has since been opened to allow the light to pass through. Wonderful color to the amethyst which shows little wear.
Found in Switzerland. Stamped 375 inside the shank, the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 9k gold. The gold has a rosy hue with the ring face topped in silver.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 3/4.
The ring face is 13.5mm north south by 10.5 and stands 6.7mm off the finger. The amethyst is 9x7mm.
The ring weight is 2.2 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some nicks to the outlining topaz and some wear to the prongs in that area. The amethyst prongs also show a little wear but the stone is secure. It moves in the setting and clicks when you tap it but is currently not in danger of falling out. The amethyst is in excellent condition for age.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
