ABOUT:
Why oh why can't I keep all the antique garnets in all the world!?"
: ) I love these half hoop band rings and juicy garnets and here is a lovely one. Foil backed collet set flat cut garnets making a skinny band five stone half hoop stacker.
What I love about this one is the mix of hues and cuts! Some stone are more purple, others more red, and others a juicy raspberry blackberry color. As a fun accent, the center stone is a rose cut while the others are flat cuts. Possibly a replacement but it's so tidy, it may be a case where the jeweler just used what was available to them. The difference in hues isn't really noticeable in ambient light but it's fun to see how they light up differently in direct light.
No hallmarks remain as often found with pieces of this age. Sold to me as 12k and seems to test as such, fading slightly with a 14k test. The garnets have a lovely inner glow. This one stacks prettily with the uniform sized collet stones.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 6 3/4. It weighs just 1.5 grams. Ring face is 6.1mm north to south. The ring lies flat against the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Considering age of almost 200 years the stones are in great condition aside from one second from the end that has some abrasions to the table. I accented this in the photos so it is more glaring with the zoom feature than in real life but I wanted to give a heads up about it. Back of the shank shows evidence of sizing, the gold is smooth and comfortable but a bit wavy from blending the original shank.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : )
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
