ABOUT:
This one is for all the "G's" out there! Beautiful antique 14k gold Victorian arrow pin or brooch with the letter G set at center with creamy iridescent antique pearls. The figural arrow has a wonderful, rich antique patina.
This may have been given as a love token with the arrow signifying love, prosperity, strength and protection. I wish it was one of my or my husband's letters as it would be quickly in my personal forever collection as a pendant.
As a pin, I was able to hang it from a chain but it may teeter some so as a permanent pendant, this would be an easy conversion because the jeweler could remove the pin back just add loops where desired.
Found in Paris but they suspected it was British in origin, in which case it could also have been worn to represent the Order of the Garter. No hallmarks that I could find. The pin post appears to be a gilt metal but the other parts of the brooch test at 14k gold with a scratch test and Kee tester. Beautiful, rich, warm antique patina to the gold.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
50mm long, the G is 12mm tall. It weighs 3.5 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This one looks hardly worn. Nice rich antique patina and design, the colors are so pretty!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
