Antique GEORGIAN Old Cut Precious Golden Yellow Peach TOPAZ Ring 14k Gold Foil Back East West OVAL

It's that time of year again for Mouse to clean out her house! So I'll be bringing you some releases from my personal collection this week including this one!

I love antique topaz and this one has such a beautiful setting with scroll work all the way around highlighting the east west oval set topaz. Set in a closed and foil backed setting as is customary for the Georgian period, the stone has a gorgeous glow from within, with rich yellow golden hues and a slight peachy hue under lit magnification. I love that you can see the long open culet under magnification, letting us know the old cut stone is original to the piece.

No hallmarks remain, tests at 14k gold (solid) with warm antique patina to the gold.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

It is a size 5 3/4. It weighs 1.9grams. The topaz is 8x6mm.
The ring face is 7.7mm north south and 4.2mm off the finger.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Shank is slightly out of round but not noticeable when wearing. A bit blunt on the edges / thin from wear but still stable and does not flex. Some darker patina / hue to the gold in one spot on each shoulder that I believe is a small weld. The entire piece has warm patina with dark in the recesses so it is not glaring but you can see the slight softening to the pattern under magnification. Some build up in the recesses of the gold detailing because it's best not to submerge these old pieces for fear of discoloring the foil. The foil back does have some spots and cloudy areas but no dark or dingy rust, the color of the stone is quite nice. It just has a moodier glow and sparkle typical for the period compared to open backed settings. The table facet edges have wear and a slight matte finish but the table and facets themselves have a nice polish so the stone does not appear dull.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
