ABOUT:
Check out that high crown cropping out of that gorgeous silver collet setting! And with an open back for ease of wear and cleaning, this French antique ring is excellent. I love to view it from the side as those heavy handed in the cutting, lofty crowned diamonds are one of the best things about antiques.

I got this one in Paris and purchased an almost matching pair of earrings from a different place also in Paris. Just good luck that they happen to make a matching set. See my other listings! I wore this one all over Europe after purchasing it.

This ring holds an exceptional stone for the period when they were cut in such a limited supply. Eye clean with not a lot of the warmth that we typically see. The collet setting crops up from the 18k gold knife edge shank to be the star of the show. The inside of the collet setting is curved for comfort across the finger. Sturdy and ready for wear. It's exceptional.

The natural antique diamond measures about 1.4 carat. It is crafted in 18k gold and silver with French hallmarks for both. The gold has a rosy hue. The silver surrounding the diamond serves as an illusion to make the stone look even larger, and this was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.

Antique box is not included. Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.

No hallmarks remain as is common for pieces of this age but tests as 14k.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/4. It weighs 2.7 grams.

The diamond is about 7x6.8mm and a chunky cut. Carat weight unknown as it can't be measured without removing it which I would never do as it would destroy the setting. The diamond widens out an unknown amount in the silver collet where the girdle edges can't be seen / measured so it is at least 1.4 carat.
The ring face is 8.7 mm north south and 6.4mm tall off the finger.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The diamond is well set so the piece is quite stable which is nice to find for an antique and with the open back it is easier to wear and clean as it can get wet.

The antique stone itself has a wonderful clarity with really no eye visible inclusions. Just a few faint specks here or there under magnification.

Very tidy and comfortable to wear. It was polished prior to me purchasing so while the shank has a gorgeous hue it is quite shiny, the silver with just a bit of patina which comes back with time or can be retained bright with an occasional polish. I always sell my pieces in the condition I receive them in with any patina intact.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any glaring issues above and they are all still wearable.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
