I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world, including several stackable bands.
ABOUT:
All original antique alert! And of course natural earth mined antique diamond set in its original 18k solid gold mount with platinum prongs.
A bright and sparkly classic engagement or solitaire ring, the pronged setting holds the .7 carat old mine cut diamond. This stone has an excellent fire for an antique stone and is eye clean which is an added bonus and hard to find from the period. The sleek shoulders are tapered slightly and rise up towards the base of the prongs.
Victorian to Edwardian era ring found in the UK with old 18CT stamp for 18k gold and some additional antique hallmarks.
I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about way later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. The scale does not do antique stones justice as they were expertly hand cut in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds made each year now. Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, but this one is eye clean and displays a wonderful Kozibe effect.`
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/2, Weighs 1.9 grams.
The diamond is a 5.6mm and measures to about .7 carat. This is an estimate measuring while set as I do not take apart my antiques for exact weight.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
A bright and rainbow fiery stone, eye clean and livelier than many antiques we can find. Even under magnification nothing glaring, some pinpoint specks if anything. Some tiny flea bites and nibbles to the girdle edge seen mostly under magnification.
Three prongs are completely worn from wear to the gold over 120 years which is typical, but the stone is still well held and does not move as it is held by the 7 other prongs around the sides. This would be something to keep an eye on over time if planning 24/7 wear but very easy to re-tip by a local jeweler with a laser welder without compromising the integrity of the piece (if desired).
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
