ABOUT:
Art Deco geometry, fabulous sparkle and color and a two tone look to this natural sapphire and old mine cut diamond necklace.
The design is an openwork square situated as a diamond with the natural sapphire cabochons in each corner, separated by the old mine cut diamonds. The diamonds total about 0.8 carat all together. How great would this be for a bride?! Something old and something blue. But at the same time also appropriate for regular wear dressed up or down!
It has that clever antique fabrication where they surround the gems in yellow gold and then the diamonds in platinum to add to the alternating two tone look. Milgrain details adorn the diamond bezels.
Lots of hallmarks, the pendant is 18k yellow gold and topped in platinum, the chain is stamped for 18k gold and platinum as well and is in white gold. With the yellow gold bezels around the sapphires and the gold back, it could be worn with either color chain.
Please note the measurements as it is difficult to determine scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Chain is 14.5 inches long stretched end to end. The pendant is 14.1mm east west and 21mm from the top of the bale to the bottom of the pendant. The chunky cabochon sapphires are 3.2mm and the diamonds are each about 3.5mm for a total of about 0.8 carat total weight in diamonds.
The pendant and chain together weigh 3.6 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The piece was very gently worn with no real damage, just age appropriate surface wear as a disclaimer because it is 100 years old. No chips at all, the stones are in really nice condition. The diamonds are eye clean. Two have a small carbon cloud that is not eye visible, the other two just a pinpoint speck here or there. Gorgeous glowing blue color to the natural sapphires.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
