ABOUT:
A cutie and super quirky French antique halo ring with center natural sapphire surrounded a unique mix of old cut antique diamonds. Most of the diamonds are old mine cuts but a few are table cut and rose cut. My favorite part about it is that three of the diamonds are a fancy light greenish yellow - I love antique diamonds with hues. So now you can see where the quirks come from, with the mixed hues and cuts.

All original 1800s piece - Certainly a one of a kind which is what we love about antiques, as this one came from a period where the jeweler used what was available to them considering diamonds were hand cut in a much more limited supply. The sapphire has a beautiful peacock blue color.

I have a great pair of earrings these match as well, listed separately and bought from different places but similar in design, they look nice together.

Found in France with worn hallmark, it is crafted in 18k rosy gold and topped in platinum as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal.

Antique box / props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:

Size 5 1/2 - just slightly over
Weight 2.9 grams
Ring face is 9.8mm north south and 5.3mm tall off the finger.
The diamonds are each 2.2 to 2.5mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This one has signs of age but remains wearable.
The sapphire has some abrasions to the table facet but a lovely color and is not dull, it is just seen when the surface facet edges are caught in a reflection of light. The diamonds are typical for the period for antique hand cut stones with some non uniform shapes, cuts and sizes, faint natural inclusions, along with the mix of hues. I don't see any dark or glaring inky carbon but there a few stones that are pretty frosty throughout. They still have a nice sparkle but there are some nicks, indented natural inclusions and some unpolished facets from being freeform rougher old cuts. The stones are on the smaller side so there is nothing glaring, the greenish yellow hues seem to light up more in the sun and in direct light.
I gave the ring a soak and a cleaning but there is a little bit of buildup remaining in the small openings around the edges of the stone.

Some worn prongs here and there and evidence of age but all stones are still held and nothing is moving.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
