ABOUT:
Another fave from our recent inventory trip. I love the striking color of these five elongated natural sapphires in silky true blue hues. Unique setting as well with a pair of rose cut diamonds in between the stones to serve as sparkly spacers / gemset prongs. The ring face is scalloped and slightly raised, making it an excellent stacker, and the shank is designed as a scalloped shape where it widens and narrows all the way around. I also like how the sapphires are uniform in size all the way across where we often see them tapered.
Did you know that in natural sapphires, inclusions are often sought after to help scatter light and thereby enhance the stone's color? That would be the case with this one, the rutile silk inclusions giving the stones a velvety glow from within, similar to the effect of a star sapphire but without the star shape. : ). So beautiful! It gives the stones an aura when you study them under lit magnification. Love!
And in such excellent condition with a glossy sheen overall and no major abrasions to give the stones any dull finish at all. A bit of color blocking to the sapphires here and there. Just a fun one to see in varying lighting conditions. Definitely Victorian in style but might have been made a little later in the Art Deco period? Still antique but the stamp looks a bit newer and the stones are in such excellent condition so I'm going a bit later to be safe.
I loved wearing this one around Europe, stacking it with the mix of color and sparkle. Stamped for 9k gold. The settings are topped in silver.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 7 1/4, a little over. It weighs 2.5 grams.
The ring face is 7.8mm north south and 3.5mm off the finger.
The stones are about 5.4x4.4mm each give or take.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Sapphires are in better than most condition considering age. The diamonds are frosty and have inclusions and nicks and varying shapes and degrees of warmth. They are small and just meant to add sparkle, the sapphires are the star of this show. The velvety silk inclusions are sometimes eye visible. Wonderful to find five sapphires on one piece with such beautiful coloring. Age appropriate patina especially in the recesses of the silver top. The inside edges of the ring face are a bit "edgy" when dragging across the finger, evidently just how it was made.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
