ABOUT:
Sparkly clasp pendant set with mixed old cut diamonds. This one is special because the center largest stone is an old cut marquise diamond. It is surrounded by a halo of small old mine cut diamonds. These old ornate clasps are hard to come by as this is a salvaged antique one and not a modern reproduction. These make excellent pendants, where you can attached a chain to each side, wear it to the front, side or back, or hang it from one end on a chain so it dangles down. Ornate and sparkly.
Functions perfectly with sturdy fabrication, the clasp has great tension with the tongue insert securing with a snap.
Dainty! Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
I found this in Switzerland. It has French hallmarks for 18k gold on the loop, teeny tiny and faint, hard to make out but I've seen it thousands of times. It also has an old serial number stamped on the outside edge.
MEASUREMENTS:
Very dainty.
14mm end to end by 5.5mm wide and 4mm deep. It weighs just 1.05 grams. The largest center diamond is about 7.8 by 2.7 mm. The diamonds in the halo are tiny. Depths vary and exact weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Surface wear and a little bit of buildup. Typical antique diamonds with faint natural inclusions but the stones are small so this is not really eye visible. The center stone has a chip to the pavilion facets just under the girdle leaving a rough outside edge which is seen only under magnification, however the chip on the underside is very slightly eye visible as a frosty spot on one end when looking through the stone. Functions very well. Please note the small loops on each end. You would likely need to add a larger jump ring that opens to attach it to a chain.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
