ABOUT:
I love to find pieces with the French antique period hallmark to validate their provenance and here is a lovely little old cut diamond solitaire. The .35 carat diamond is a spready cut facing up over .4 carat. In addition to that, the ruffled halo design which is topped in a white precious metal and surrounds the diamond also adds to the effect of making the stone look larger.
Crafted in 18k with the French hallmark used primarily in the late 1800s and discontinued by early 1900s.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 5 1/4, a little over. It weighs just 2.35 grams. Ring face is 8.6mm north to south and 4.9mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamond is typical for antique stones with a slight warmth and a smattering of inclusions on one side that are very slightly eye visible if seeking them out (I can only see them under magnification). The stone does have a tendency to reflect a bit of frost from the setting and from the period appropriate unpolished girdle (if it was polished we'd know it wasn't an authentic antique). This can make the stone read a bit frosty when in actuality the clarity is quite good. Sweet little all original antique. Just one worn prong, the others are very long and hold the stone securely so it is ready for wear.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
