ABOUT:
I love the texture of these panel rings that are encrusted with the already tactile additions of chunky old mine cut diamonds. The ring face is covered with the old cuts including the raised shoulders which align with the ornate swirling openwork gallery of the ring. Propped up in the center is a vibrant green natural emerald of beautiful color.
Sturdy setting, this piece I found in France and it has their hallmark for 18k gold and a goldsmith stamp.
Fun to wear with the color and old cut sparkle, with a nice sized footprint on the finger and ornate details. With the 16 diamonds and various cuts that reflect the light differently, the piece has a moody and fabulous antique look.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5, slightly snug, the ring face is 14x12mm. It weighs 4.75 grams.
The larger diamonds are 2.5 to 2.8mm each, the smaller about 1.7 to 2.2mm. The fourteen larger diamonds total at least a carat, the smaller adding another .25 carat or so.
Estimated carat weight is around 1.25 carat total weight in diamonds, this is on the conservative side as they are chunky cuts. Again this is an estimate as the cuts vary, it is not possible to get an exact measurement while set and I would not remove them.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The emerald is excellent with a wonderful sheen and polish, rich and vibrant color, it does not have an overall milkiness to it that we sometimes see. Typical antique diamonds with various natural inclusions, some appearing a bit frosty, some with a bit more warmth, no dark carbon. Also typical in that they have varying warm to some pale yellow hues that I absolutely love. Adds so much character to the piece being appropriate for the period. They are wonderfully quirky old cuts with wonky shapes due to their hand cut and chiseled formation. A few tiny nibbles or small nicks seen under magnification only. Wonderful texture and sparkle to the piece. It is a fun one to wear.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
