ABOUT:
Cutie Patooties in a just right size to dress up or down.
These sweetie antique earrings are crafted in two parts and connected by a loop to allow movement so that the flower parts can catch the light and sparkle whilst they dangle.
At the top is the ear wire with springy lever back to secure it closed and an arrow detail set with diamonds. This leads down to the dangling daisy floral cluster of rose cuts surrounding the raised natural blue sapphire in the center. Each earring holds 8 rose cut diamonds set in the little flower petal details around the sapphire.
The rose cuts have the flat backs as expected but are nicely domed compared to many from the period that are very thinly sliced disks. So cute! With jeans or a little black dress, even a wonderful something old and blue for a bridal situation. : )
Found in Spain, no hallmarks remain which I found was common there but tests at 18k gold which is also common there. The gold has a slightly rosy hue.
Any props / boxes not included.
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The clusters are 9.7mm in diameter. They are 26mm from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the cluster.
The pair weighs 3.1 grams combined.
The diamonds are 2 to 2.2mm each. The sapphires are 3.7mm each.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The backs are nice and springy and snap closed well. One sapphire has a couple flea bites. The diamonds are nice little twinklers with just a few faint frosty spots but considering many from the period were rough cut and frosty throughout these are lovely. One of the smallest diamonds at the top arrow detail is a single cut, not really evident to the eye but may be a replacement since it doesn't match the cut of the other stones? I'm not seeing a lot of prongs, the rose cuts seem to be pinched into the petal detail with just a few tiny claws of gold here and there but I am recommending gentle wear to be safe. Not that we would ever want to lie down on 125 year old gold hinges anyway : ) but for heavier wear they may need some reinforcing. The sapphires have worn prongs too but do not move in the settings. Again this is typical for their age and I bought these from an actual antique jewelry store in Spain so they saw fit to sell them without reinforcing and I am doing the same. Earrings are by nature gently worn so I don't envision any stones flying off unless they were dropped or accidentally mishandled. : )
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).
Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
