ABOUT:
Really unique French antique multi band ring - the ring face has five separate bands that join at the back creating a wide band stacker with striking color and awesome texture and sparkle. At center is a prong set old mine cut diamond between four old cut natural rubies and four old cut natural emeralds. These nine stones are raised amidst the five bands that are all encrusted with tiny rose cut diamonds giving the top half of the ring all over sparkle.
The old mine cut at center is small but gorgeous with a warm pale yellow color - my favorite to find in antique stones!
Extra wide spanning 14mm across the finger, so it is substantial enough to wear alone. But the ring face only tapers slightly so you could also stack it up and layer it with other bands.
Found in Paris with French hallmark for 18k gold and a goldsmith stamp. It's crafted in antique yellow gold with patina that gives the ring face a slight rosiness. So lovely!
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
It's about a size 7 to the center of the wide back of the shank. The face of the ring is 13.8mm north south and stands 3.3mm off the finger. It weighs 6.2g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One of the rose cuts is secured with adhesive. It is slightly eye visible if you are looking for it because the adhesive makes the area appear a bit frosty. All the rose cuts are very small, typical rough cut little chips so they are all irregular with non uniform shapes, rough edges, nicks and frosty spots. Likely have always been this way as this is how they tend to look when they are the little old cut chips. But with sooooo many tiny stones, recommend gentler wear on this antique beauty.
Some nibbles to the other stones and one of the rubies is chipped at one corner but appears complete in the prongs and fills the space. The center diamond has a carbon spot seen under magnification. One prong is pulled away slightly from the center diamond but it is completely stable and surrounded on all sides. I noticed while handling it that the prongs are a bit blunt and with the raised settings, may catch on knits. No fault of its own, just how it was made and something to consider if you wear knit sweaters 24/7 : )
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
