Antique Rose Table Cut DIAMOND Square Blue SAPPHIRE Seven Stone Ring Pie Crust Bezel Georgian Revival Victorian
Antique Rose Table Cut DIAMOND Square Blue SAPPHIRE Seven Stone Ring Pie Crust Bezel Georgian Revival Victorian
ABOUT:
I love the domed back collet settings of this seven stone ring with the pop of color. Always exciting to find table cut diamonds, there are two table cuts on each side along with one rose cut stone on each side. These flank the center true blue sapphire that is cut as a square and situated with the pointed ends facing the north and south.
Definitely Georgian in style, but I'm not positive when this one was made. It is an antique, but it appears to have had some work done. I can't say for sure if it was a Georgian piece that has had a glow up or if it is later, early 1900s in the Georgian style, still touched up.
The pie crust edging looks a bit too crisp (although the side stones show a lot of wear). I am selling it as early 1900s to be safe. The center stone appears to be a synthetic sapphire and it is in perfect condition with nary a nick, indicating it is likely a later replacement compared to the diamonds that show more of their age and wear. One of the stones is a paste (not a diamond) and is likely a replacement.
Crafted in 18k gold, with wonderful shape and details. Makes a fun stacker!
Found in France. No hallmarks remain but tests at 18k gold.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/4
The ring face is 11mm north south and 4.5mm tall off the finger.
The synthetic sapphire is 5.7mm square and the diamonds are about 2mm.
The ring weight is 5.1 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As mentioned this piece has had a glow up. The center stone is almost certainly a replacement showing no signs of wear compared to the rest of the setting. One of the rose cut stones is a paste / glass and is chipped. There are some solder bubbles around the other rose cut. All the diamonds have a bit of a frosty appearance with some rough or nibbled edges, some natural inclusions and frosty spots, and age to the closed back setting. The center stone is wonderful in condition and color.
A nice and sturdy setting after apparently having been reinforced. I wish I knew the stories it could tell.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
