ABOUT:
A gorgeous antique seven stone ring with a little hidden surprise. When off the hand you can take a peek at the back inside of the ring face (or ring butt as we lovingly call it in the trade) to see the beautiful engraved flower detail.
This is crafted in the Georgian style with rose cut diamonds set in closed and foil backed silver collet settings. While it is still antique, it does not date to the Georgian era, more likely the early 1900s.
Found in Sweden. It has older hallmarks for 18k gold. Nice and sturdy, ready to wear with the bright and sparkly rose cuts cropping out of the setting which has some nice height to it and additional ornate details like ball rivet and linear engravings. And of course that hand engraved floral engraved booty is everything!
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
Antique Boxes, props, mice : ) not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6.
The ring face is about 6.5mm north south, it stands 6.1mm off the finger. The diamonds are 4.2mm for the largest, 3.2mm elongated / ovals at the shoulders and about 2mm each for the four smallest stones. This is measuring the exposed portions only, they widen out an additional unknown amount in the collets. Exact depths and thereby carat weight are unknown. The piece weighs 3.8 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Closed back setting so we avoid getting these wet. But it's a nice and sturdy ring. The diamonds are bright and sparkly compared to many where the foil is dark or muddy. The stones do appear quite frosty though with some natural inclusions, irregular cuts and some indented natural inclusions that carry up to the surface creating an uneven / unpolished area here or there. This is not glaring and they do sparkle, they are just the typical old rough cuts from the period.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
