ABOUT:
Gorgeous coloring to this French antique bar brooch. It is set with five citrines backed it in red colored foil as they loved these flashes of color during this period. The result is what is referred to as "Oil and Vinegar" - it is so lovely, we still get a golden yellow coloring but then as the piece is moved we see the deeper red flashes. It's beautiful.

This piece was fabricated in the method the French created many of their Perpignan garnet rings that came out of the same region. I've had a few over these pieces years and had the pleasure of seeing some more examples and learning more about them at the French traditional jewelry display in Perpignan last year. I love these domed back collet settings in my antique jewelry.

This bar pin or brooch but would be an excellent candidate for a pendant conversion using just the stones or the entire bar with the gold ends to make it larger. I was able to style it with a chain in photos but it does swivel or teeter some as it doesn't want to lie perfectly flat on the decollette with the pin back - but hopefully it gives you an idea of how it would look. Chain not included. Some hook a chain to each end and then use the pin post to run additional dangling charms along the back as a two for one pendant / charm holder. Plenty of ways to wear so I will leave it to the buyer to determine their preference.

The nice thing about it being a brooch is it was lightly worn so the stones are in excellent condition with beautiful sheen and polish.

No hallmarks that I could find but these are always crafted in 18k which is the standard in France and tested to confirm.

Antique boxes, chains, props in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
67mm long, the largest stone is 10x6.5mm.
It weighs 3.8 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Patina to the back that could be polished up if desired. Stones are well set and in better than most condition for age when it comes to abrasions, functions well.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

My disclaimer with all my pieces - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.

I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
