ABOUT:
Timeless antique diamond Y necklace or lariat with diamond pendant connected to the chain for an elegant sparkle. The pendant has two larger old mine cut diamonds, one in a milgrain bezel and the other dangling in a prong setting. With added marquis panels holding old mine single cut diamonds, all the pieces are connected by loops allowing them to move independently to catch the light and sparkle. French Art Deco era piece crafted in 18k white gold and platinum. Adding to its charm is the beautiful and dainty alternating link period chain.
A great geometric look - perfect to dress up or down. There is an added safety chain / second clasp to the back to make sure it wears securely.
Found in France on my recent sourcing trip, this piece has several French hallmarks for 18k gold and platinum on the clasp, the safety chain clasp and on the pendant.
Antique box / props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
The bottom prong set old mine cut diamond is about 5mm, cushion cut with a chunky cut totaling around 0.6 carat. The bezel set old mine cut pendant is 4.8mm cushion cut measuring around half a carat. The other diamonds are 1.2 to 1.5mm. I would not remove them from the setting for exact carat weight but estimates to around 1.2 carat total weight in diamonds.
The pendant is 34mm from the top of the Y to the bottom of the prong set dangle.
The pendant and the chain together weigh 4.85 grams.
Chain is about 17 1/2" in length stretched end to end.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
There is one weld to one of the delicate chain links, very tidily done but causes a curve to the chain there on the left side, about an inch and a half above the pendant. Still stable and wearable, just wanted to point it out.
Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions - these are not visible to my eyes which are in their forties : ) but may be slightly eye visible if you are studying it and looking for it. No dark carbon spots, just some frosty specks here and there. Very nice sparkle, ready to wear!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
