ABOUT:
An all around sparkler with ornately engraved sides! Classic and timeless French vintage tennis bracelet from the Art Deco period. Crafted in platinum it holds 29 transitional cut diamonds in square bezels totaling over 6 1/4 carats. Many of these bracelets have diamonds tapering in size but this one has uniform sized stones in square bezels creating an equal line all the way around.
The diamonds being the star of the show, settle in nicely amidst the platinum, making this one wearable even in a yellow gold wrist stack where the diamonds can add the attention grabbing glitter effect. The clasp has a tongue insert to hide itself within the line bracelet with the added safety chain for security.
I love the engravings on the vertical edges to add interest from all angles.
Substantial enough to wear alone with an excellent glitter factor and stable to wear. Made for an average wrist, it is about 7 inches long, not including the tongue insert of the clasp.
Found in France, the piece bears French hallmarks for platinum on the tongue insert.
Any props / boxes, etc. not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Measuring the bezels, the bracelet is 4.8mm north south on the wrist all the way around. Made for an average wrist, it is 7 inches stretched end to end, not including the tongue insert of the clasp. The safety chain has its own clasp to allow it to open end to end to put on. I have a 5.5 inch wrist and it is too large for me, so it would be better on a larger wrist than mine. It doesn't fall off without opening but it has a lot of dangle.
It stands 3.3mm tall off the wrist. It weighs 17.9 grams.
The thirty nine old cuts vary in cut and depth but all measure around 3.5mm in diameter, give or take (most around .16 carat each). I would never remove them from the piece for an exact measurement, and again with the varying cuts and depths this is just an estimate, but totals over 6 1/4 carats total weight in antique diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This one is in really nice condition with sturdy hinges holding each of the diamond settings to the next. No damage to any of the diamonds, not a single nick or nibble. We often see inclusions carrying up to the surface but this one has none of that, all the stones being complete and well polished. Clasp functions well.
The stones are well matching and bright in color, a few with a slight gray hue. One stone near the clasp is milky in color. In various lighting and with normal wear the piece does not read "warm" or yellow in color but the cuts vary slightly from stone to stone causing the occasional stone to reflect the light differently
Many of the diamonds are eye clean. Those with faint natural inclusions are seen mostly with a loupe, slightly to very slightly eye visible. Most being small frosty specks, just a few larger needles and a just a few stones with a tiny smattering containing tiny carbon specks. No large dark or inky spots that draw the eye. Again most of what is seen is with a loupe.
Each stone is held by four bead prongs, one at each corner. Some light wear but none of the stones move. The loop for the safety chain has some patina so that one small part may be silver?
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
My items do very well without paperwork so I have not sent the stones for certification but always provide as much detail as possible with measurements, condition notes and many extra photos (see website) to capture it true to life in various lighting conditions, which can be translated to grading scales if desired.
