ABOUT:
A charming antique diamond necklace with so many intricate elements. This French antique piece is crafted in 18k white gold with the chain connecting to a freeform oval, from which dangles a pendant with a double halo / bullseye / target design. The oval and the pendant dangle are both set with little rose cut diamonds. The chain is also interesting with dainty alternating links.
The oval and dangle pendant are backed in yellow gold so it has a warm gold from the side and back, also fun in that you could layer it with any other colors.
The form is almost like a negligee style necklace, but with one dangle instead of the usual two. A great geometry as well - perfect to dress up or down.
Found in France - French hallmarks for 18k gold on the clasp, loop and on the loop of the pendant indicating all parts are gold.
Antique box / props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
The oval is 14mm wide and the circle dangle is 10mm wide. The pendant and the chain together weigh 2.85 grams. The diamonds are very small, little tiny ones to catch the light for sparkle.
Chain is 16 1/2" in length.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Right above the loop of the dangle pendant there is a rose gold weld. It is a very small area but you can see the difference in hue since the rest of the piece is white gold. They must have had to reinforce it there and the underlying gold came to the surface.
Typical old rose cut diamonds with some inclusions, nicks, frosty and irregular edges, likely have always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle.
It's the tiniest spring ring and loop you ever did see. Just how it was made.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
