ABOUT:
Victorian antique earrings from France with little starburst designs impressed on the black buttons. They are set in a cupped 18k gold setting with screw backs and rise like a little half sphere off the ear. Stack them up or wear them alone as a minimalist statement.
These have excellent patina and very sturdy screw backs so while I don't typically advertise 24/7 wear on any of my 125 year old plus pieces, these you can have at it! French hallmarks for 18k on the screw backs.
I'm not sure what the black material is. Tapping them together they feel like glass or stone so they are not gutta percha or rubber. Perhaps French jet?
Beautiful design that appears both very antique and also currently on trend.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
6.2mm wide. 4.7mm deep for just the "button fronts" not including the post. Combined weight is just 0.9g. Lightweight hand feel.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Complete as the day they were made with sturdy and tight screw backs. A little nibble around the base edge but not seen while wearing and appears complete in shape and form. Note that with the ball back, they don't screw all the way to the back ear, the ear post hits the inside of the screw back and stops at that depth if that makes sense.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
