ABOUT:

An uncommon opal and emerald halo ring!
I have a soft spot for opals as they are a favorite of my mom's since my dad gave her one when they were dating. Of all the opals these bluer ones are the ones I am most drawn to. This one is in good condition with a nice sheen overall and that beautiful blue coloring with flecks of green, a little yellow etc.

Making this antique ring even more fun is the halo of carre cut emeralds surrounding it. Halo rings always seem to be quite popular but I haven't had one with such a unique color combo with the green emeralds surround around the beautiful opal.

Found in Belgium. No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 6 3/4. It weighs 3.3 grams. Ring face is 15mm north to south by 12mm. The opal is about 11x8mm.

CONDITION NOTES:

The opal has a nice sheen oval compared to many antique opals with just a few tiny nicks and scratches and a few areas of more of a matte finish but it is not overall dull and it does have a sheen remaining. One emerald is cracked with loss leaving a gap to one side. Two others are also cracked but have not broken so they remain complete to the eye. There are other chipped corners, nibbles, abrasions and natural inclusions but the stones are small so this is seen more when studying the piece. To the eye while wearing the halo appears complete with some small gaps. This one had quite a lot of buildup so I gave it a good cleaning but it could use a little more of a gentle soak and light brushing to those small openings behind the emeralds. Definitely recommend very gentle though as I do on all my antiques, especially those with multiple small stones, as applying pressure could cause loss to those two other emeralds that have cracks. Still quite a rare piece. I bought two of these together from the same person / collector - the other is smaller in size, but aside from having sourced these two, I have not seen any others like it so it is a special combination.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Very sweet piece from a very special era. I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
