This was meant to be a personal collection piece but the tax man came for me - tee hee! : )
Versatile, sparkling antique diamond bracelet - it has a great geometric look to wear beautifully alone or in a stack with bangles or chains. Beautiful rosy patina to the linear hinged links, with 13 old cut diamonds set in independent square settings. This allows the face of the bracelet to ripple and move so that the diamonds can catch the light and sparkle.
Great linear look, I just love it!
No hallmarks remain, sold to me from a reputable source as 14k gold and tested to confirm.
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
The old mine cuts are each about 2 to 2.5mm. I would never remove them but it was sold to me as around 5 points per stone which aligns with my measurements, so around .65 carat total weight in diamonds.
It weighs 5 grams. The line of square bezels is about 3.4mm north to south. It is about 7 1/4 inches around the outside with a tape measure wrapped around it. It has a safety chain allowing it to be opened to fit a wider wrist. I have a 5 1/2 inch wrist and it is a bit too large for me. : ( It spins around my wrist BUT it does not slide off my hand without opening. So I could get away with wearing it in a stack, or it could fit a larger wrist.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamonds are pretty frosty on this one, with natural inclusions making it difficult to see through the stones to the open culets. They are small so this is most noticeable under magnification. The diamonds also have nicks and nibbles or rough / irregular or frosty edges. It's possible some of them were just cut that way since these old diamonds were cut by hand. It is not noticeable to the eye as they appear complete adding that awesome antique sparkle to the square settings. Also typical for antique stones, they have some warm hues.
Surface wear to the gold and some of the links have some shallow ripples here and there. The links are still stable. Some darker patina in spots. Pretty much every diamond has nicks and nibbles and rough / irregular edges. It's possibly they were just cut that way since these old diamonds were cut by hand. It is not noticeable to the eye as they appear complete adding that awesome rose cut jagged sparkle to the square settings.
I noticed the little safety clasp / second hook doesn't always like to stay put. But the primary clasp is in good condition and clips closed snugly.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
