ABOUT:

Beautiful antique diamond bracelet in a linear bypass hinged bangle form with safety chain. So much sparkle! The top side of the bracelet is set with table cut and rose cut diamonds with two clusters of old mine cuts at the ends formed like little clovers. This Paris find is crafted in 18k gold with warm rosy patina and topped in platinum as was customary for the time to set diamonds in a white metal.

I just love the mix of old cut stones. There isn't even an exact pattern which gives it a fabulous, organic feel. They have such a wonderful untamed sparkle. And I think it was always made this way, not having any replacement stones, as the bezels match the stone shapes so I think it just a case where the jeweler of the time used what they had available to them.

French hallmarks for 18k and platinum.
Functions perfectly. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

Comes as pictured in Victorian box.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 17.1 grams. I would not remove the stones for exact measurements but just using estimates by mm, it is around 2 carats. The smallest diamonds, the rose cuts in the clover shapes are about 2mm, and the largest table cuts are 4mm. The others are all around 3mm give or take.

It is about 7 1/2 inches around the outside with a tape measure wrapped around it. Inside dimensions are 55mm by 47mm if I measure the distance across the opening in each direction. I have a 5 1/2 inch wrist and it fits me, but is a bit too large for me. : ( It won't slide off my hand without opening, but it does spin around my wrist so it would be better on a larger wrist or stacked with other pieces. And with the safety chain, it opens to slide over a larger wrist.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some nicks, a shallow impression that looks like a ripple here or there but it wears beautifully. One area of the openwork side under the stones / the vertical gallery is muddled so there may have been a reinforcement there. On the other side there is some loss to the openwork lattice with some little gaps between the gold but it is still perfectly wearable and stable. This is seen when you study the bracelet from the side. Typical antique diamonds with warm hues from age to the closed back, some nicks, nibbles, rough edges, natural inclusions and frosty spots. This is how they often look on pieces of this age.

The box is also quite old and somewhat delicate with some gaps, loose hinge, etc. So it definitely needs a gentle hand but again, it's 150 years old and considering the materials used deteriorate with time.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition.

Beautiful coloring, shine and patina. Some surface wear and a few scuffs scratches made more noticeable by the mirrored finish, but functions well. So sparkly and beautiful. Please note that due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.

I have many more antique pieces listed so please see my other items and thanks for stopping by!
