ABOUT:
Awesome French antique slide clip - this one has a gorgeous two tone butterfly with rose cut diamonds for a glint of sparkle, a green paste on the body and small pink gem eyes.
This is an antique piece from the Belle Epoque era that I acquired in France. Wonderful details - so Art Nouveau! And the patina is just fantastic with satin sheen and rosy highlights seen under magnification - I love French antique gold.
There are loops behind each wing to run on a chain, or to clip a dog clip to, so it is ready to go as a pendant. NOTE - the chains seen in photos are not included, but I wanted to show you how it can also be worn above a dog clip to add character in your neckmess / neckstack. Unfortunately the clip backs on this one are pretty weak so I had trouble getting it to hold firm to a chain. I think you'd have to incorporate some jump rings to connect it to a chain if you desired to use the butterfly clips at the back. But again, with the loops already at each wing, it is ready to wear as is.
Any props or additional items shown are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos. This one particularly seems to show larger in photos than it actually is, they are the actual item (and my actual hand) but perspective in photos is hard : ) .
MEASUREMENTS:
20mmx22mm. It weighs 2.85grams.
MARKS:
French goldsmith hallmark with an old stamped serial number, also stamped M.L. and has the "depose" stamp / tag, which is the French word for "Registered". It is very similar to our use of patents - so it is signifying not only "made in" but also "copyrighted/registered/patent protected" French design.
Oddly could not find the gold purity stamp but it is clearly solid gold and 18k is the standard there.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note that it is missing one tiny rose cut on the right hand wing. It is so small I decided to sell it as is, to me it is barely noticeable so I didn't want to add work and cost when it is wearable. One of the diamonds on the other side is chipped as well but again, so small it is only seen under magnification. They are all frosty, rough cuts just meant to add a glint of sparkle.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
