CARNATION French Art Nouveau Antique Rose Cut Diamonds 18k Gold Ring Figural Floral Belle Epoque
ABOUT:
Those that follow me know I love floral jewelry (and floral plates! and I started my career in Victorian floral silverware! : ) Yay flowers!
Wonderful French antique Art Nouveau figural carnation ring with bypass shank displaying graceful moment with the stems accented below by a line of rose cut diamonds. Wonderful figural gold work with lifelike detail and a delicate sparkle. I'm heartbroken to part with it, but in the meantime I'll enjoy wearing it, starting at this weekend's homecoming football game of one of my nephews. I love the beautiful satin texture in the chiseled recesses of the flower details. Yummy!
No hallmarks, sold to me as 18k which is the standard in France.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
Antique box not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 5 1/2. IT weighs 3.35 grams.
The ring face is 14mm north to the south on the finger. And it stands 2.6mm thick / tall off the finger with the thicker goldwork of the carnation.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical old rose cut diamonds with some inclusions, nicks, frosty and irregular edges seen under magnification and varying depths, must of this likely has always been that way as they were rough cut by hand. They are small so this is not really visible to the eye, they just add a nice little glint of sparkle.
I noticed the shank is a rosy gold compared to the buttery yellow gold of the ring face. However it appears to have always been a ring so I am not sure if it was re-shanked at some point in its life or just made this way.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
