ABOUT:

Mr. Mouse calls this one the magical confetti diamond ring. Old cuts with hues!

I love everything about antique diamonds, their unique characteristics and even their imperfections. This ring is the epitome of quirkiness with its wonderful mix of hues to each of the one of a kind, hand cut stones. Impactful piece with over 2.5 carats worth of antique diamonds in their original setting. About a half dozen of the antique stones in this ring have a gorgeous light brown to champagne hue, some with even the slightest blush to them. A few others are lighter champagne to warm in color. Mix in those with the two yellow antique diamonds and you get this amazing and certainly one of a kind antique navette cluster.

I study, read and write about antique diamonds all day every day and this one was challenging to describe with the mix of hues and how they change based on lighting. The yellow stones especially light up in direct sunlight, which also seems to richen the brown hues. It's one of the most interesting and unique clusters I have ever had. While certainly moody and distinctive in its appearance, it is in no way lifeless, dull or dingy. The fascinating hues do not lessen the chunky antique sparkle of these unique old mine cuts.

Just what we love about antique diamonds - no two are ever exactly alike and this has such an interesting mix! Everything about this antique ring is moody, unique and captivating. You'll note that the blush is not in the fancy pink scale so I was careful not to list it as "pink", because it doesn't really read that way with normal wear - again it is more of a dusty rosy addition to the champagne and light brown hues - which is why I feel like a warm blush is the best way to describe it. The color seems to vary from room to room based on lighting conditions. Please see my website where I can include a lot more pics. I took several pics of it next to a whiter diamond ring because for me it always helps to view the colors comparatively.

This ring was even engraved / personalized in its antiquity but it is no longer legible now.

Found in the UK no hallmarks remain but it tests at 14k.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 8 1/2, a little over
Weight: 4.4g
Ring face measurement: 25x12mm
Height off the finger: 5mm

The center largest stone is about 4mm. The other fourteen diamonds are 3 to 3.5mm each. Exact depths vary, some with high crowns - I would never remove them for exact measurements but estimates to over 2.5 carats total weight in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Despite having so many stones, this one has a sturdy hand feel with the setting appearing in good order as several of the prongs appear to have been reinforced, especially all the many prongs along the outside edge where each of the outlining stones has that long bead prong securing it. Two stones have an area of small chips to the side facets, appearing like crevices, likely from a natural inclusion carrying up to the surface so it's possible they have always been that way. They are complete in their shape so they are not broken in half or anything, they fill the space in the setting, but rather just have the crevices of a small unpolished area to the surface on one side. One other stone has a smaller indented natural inclusion at one facet. Only the former would be considered eye visible if you are seeking it out.

The center stone and one other have a large warm carbon natural inclusion that can reflect quite darkly and is definitely eye visible, but those two stones also are warmer overall in color. The others are typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions, seen mostly under magnification. Some of it is masked by the warm hues to the stones, the hues definitely being eye visible and quite wonderful. The majority of antique diamonds are warmer in color because most of the rough diamonds at that time came from mines that produced warmer-colored stones. Many collectors like myself seek out these chunky warm stones, so unique compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds produced each year. Edge of the shank is a bit blunt from age and there is some spots of patina to the shank and inside at the shoulders.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
