Love this one in a mixed metal stack with a yellow gold donut band!
Chunky and versatile French antique five stone old mine cut diamond band totaling a little over 1 1/2 carat. This one is crafted in platinum with each stone well surrounded making this antique beauty ready for regular wear as a wedding, engagement or anniversary band. A nice, wearable size and setting, great to mix and match.
No hallmarks remain which is actually common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing or from wear. Sold to me as platinum, tested to confirm.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/4.
The ring face is 6.5mm north south and 4mm tall off the finger. The shank is nice and wide / sturdy.
Weight is 4.3grams.
The center diamond is 5.2x5mm cushion cut, the flanking two are 4.3x4mm and the end stones are 3.4x3.1mm each. Exact carat weight is unknown as I would not remove them, and the setting does limit visibility of the girdle edges but estimated carat weight came to about 1.52 carat total weight in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Prongs / setting are in good shape making this one ready of regular wear. No chips or damage to any of the diamonds.
As is typical for antique diamonds hand cut long before the Four C's was invented for machine cut diamonds and their mathematically perfect facets, these have some natural inclusions, a few eye visible, most slightly eye visible. One of the second largest stones has a warm gray silk inclusion. The other second largest has a crystal formation with some carbon specks in it. This carries to the surface on one edge leaving small crevices / indented natural inclusions under magnification. The indented natural inclusions are not eye visible but the crystal formation can catch the light. The other three stones have smaller frosty speck inclusions less visible except under magnification. Also typical they have a slight warmth here or there but again nothing glaring and are overall well matching. These have a more subtle sparkle so it was priced accordingly. They face up brighter in direct sun but note the ambient light photos by the plate as well and the views of the stones from the side in the sunlight.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
