Chunky 1.75 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Pear Gypsy Ring 10g 18k Gold HEAVY Vintage Stacker 9mm Wide Gypsy Band
Back from my spring inventory trips to Europe with plenty of unique antiques, hand picked one at a time for you!
ABOUT:
Love this one!
A timeless and substantial vintage stacker with center chunky old mine cut diamond measuring 1 1/4 carat in a raised demi bezel. It is flanked on each side by a flush mounted pear shaped brilliant diamond for a total of 1 3/4 carat weight in diamonds, nice and bright white in color. Crafted in 18k solid gold, it has a rosy hue. Domed and heavy setting with the high crown of the old mine cut cropping out at the center. Wonderful geometry to this combo gypsy and three stone ring.
I could actually see this one as a wedding set. It layers really well but is substantial and interesting to wear alone. The design to me kind of spans all periods but it has a retro vibe - it is a vintage ring that was possibly designed to incorporate the antique old mine cut diamond that may have been from granny's ring or a passed down family piece? But certainly a timeless and wearable piece!
Found in France but I can't make out the two hallmarks at the back. One likely a symbol for the 18k gold and the other a maker's stamp.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 1/4
Weight: 10.1g
north south measurement: 9mm
depth / Height off the finger: 5.7mm
The center diamond is about 6.6mm with a nice high crowns / chunky cut - it measures about 1.25 carat alone. The pears on each side I was told were about .25 carat each, they measure about 5.8mm end to end. I would not remove the stones from the setting for an exact carat weight but estimates to around 1.75 carat in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamond - one slightly eye visible crystal inclusion right off the table that carries up to the surface leaving an indented natural inclusion at the surface that looks like a tiny speck which is not really eye visible. There is a needle inclusion / tiny squiggle and frosty spot just above the culet that can sometimes catch the light, again so very small so not glaringly apparent unless seeking it out but under magnification it can reflect in the stone. No dark carbon spots and no eye visible inclusions to the pear diamonds. One has a shallow flake of loss leaving an unpolished spot right above the pointed tip, again only barely eye visible and the stone appears complete and fills the setting. It is just a difference in texture when you study the surface facet.
The center diamond moves but is in no danger of going anywhere, with the girdle well covered by the bezel on the top and bottom that it sort of floats in.
Surface wear as expected. There are no dark or green or discolored spots to the gold, it's just the gold that reflects its surroundings including trees outside the window.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
