ABOUT:
Here is a fine shooter of rainbows that has all the characteristics that we love to find in antique diamonds. It's eye clean, it's extra chunky, it's in its original antique setting that is sturdy enough for regular wear...add in those lovely tulip shaped ring shoulders and the aforementioned rainbow fire - so much going for it.
The diamond is wonderful, so fun to view from the side to see its lofty crown which contributes to its 1.2 carat size. I got this one in France but I think it is British in origin. Crafted in 18k with the shoulders and basket setting topped in platinum as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal. The platinum hallmark and the maker's mark is still visible, I can't make out a gold purity hallmark but it is tested.
With single cut diamonds as accents, two on each side, this Art Deco beauty has a nice height and a beautiful design. Between the two accent stones and at the ends / the base of the tulip designs are illusion stamp marks making it appear almost as if there are more stones there, which was intentional in its design. The center stone is the star though. And the diamond cutter of the time did an excellent job faceting and even managing to polish some areas of the girdle, which was a fairly recent advancement for that period.
So much to love. : )
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6.5
The diamond is 6.5x6.35mm and a chunker, measuring 1.2 carats conservatively (I would not remove it from its setting for an exact measurement.). The four accent diamonds add to that carat weight.
The ring weighs 3g. It is 6.5mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No damage or repairs, one prong is worn back and two others show quite a bit of wear but the others hold the stone securely so this would be something to keep an eye on over time if wearing it 24/7. The diamond is eye clean and more with almost nothing detectable even under strong magnification, VS for sure with just one indented natural and an adjacent carbon speck in one spot pushed right up against the prong on the very outside edge, so not really seen unless again using strong magnification and seeking it out. Slight warmth customary for the period but a wonderful fire and a well cut stone with the asymmetrical proportions of antique one of a kind diamonds that we love to find, giving it a more organic feel. The single cuts read quite warm and frosty, much of this due to build up behind the stones that have small openings and are hard to reach.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).
Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
