ABOUT:
We love a super chunky rose cut diamond disco ball!
Here's a cool unisex ring with extra wide / flat cigar band form and the applied collet set rose cut diamond. This is a dutch (or also named holland, Antwerp or crowned rose cut) with the high crown. Quite fun to find compared to the many more thinly sliced discs we often find from the period.

An all original antique piece, both the stone and setting, I got this one in Sweden. The diamond is a nice size at about 5.9mm, facing up at about .8 carat. The high crown catches the light beautifully, it's a nice shooter of rainbows but has an overall peachy golden warm hue from the golden honey amber color of the closed back setting.

There is a hallmark inside and one at the back of the shank. I couldn't identify them but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm.

Shank is imperfect but could be remedied with a sizing. Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

It is a size 8 1/2. It weighs 4.5 grams.
The cigar band shank is 8.3mm north south at the ring face, tapering to 5mm at the back.
The diamond is about 5.9mm just measuring the exposed portion, so it widens out some millimeters further into the closed collet setting. Exact carat weight is unknown since we can't get an accurate diameter or depth measurement but it faces up at .8 carat, and more if you include the collet setting which measures 7.3mm in diameter (equating to an almost 1.5 carat size). Again actual carat weight is unknown as I'd never take the piece apart.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

There is damage to the back of the shank, a ripple, a sort of crinkle to the gold and a hairline crack extending from the illegible hallmark there at the back. It's actually stable to wear, as there is a lot of gold there, it doesn't flex or bend, but the edge of the shank has worn thin and has an "edgy" feel. I do not find it uncomfortable to wear and stacking it would also add stability but important to know as it relates to how much emphasis you put on how your jewelry "feels". It also depends on how tightly it is worn on a finger. If the piece were to be sized, this could also be repaired but I didn't want to put funds into it and increase the price if it was going to be sized anyway and it is still wearable as is. Therefore it is sold as is. There are some slight differences in hue and some gold patching marks to the inside of the shank as well, not really evident when wearing but I've shown it in photos.
The diamond is really well set. No issues there. Some dark spotting within the stone. The closed back setting is a warm and shiny beautiful amber color, not muddy or rusty. It has a unique coloring as seen. Almost appears like a champagne diamond in ambient light, but brightening in direct light with still shiny closed back to increase light reflectivity. Awesome from the side to view the high crown. We avoid getting these wet.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
