Chunky Three Carat Peruzzi Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Antique Domed Seven Stone HALF HOOP 18k Gold Ring Georgian Band
Chunky Three Carat Peruzzi Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Antique Domed Seven Stone HALF HOOP 18k Gold Ring Georgian Band
ABOUT:
So special! Look at the lofty crowns on these old cuts!! This Georgian era piece features seven old mine and rare Peruzzi cut extra super duper chunky diamonds in domed back settings - like seven little cups / bowls of goodness heaping over! Estimating around 3 carats total weight in ancient diamonds - It really pops off the finger.
For antique diamond enthusiasts, the cuts don't get much chunkier than this, the center being round flanked by two more square stones. Then we have two more on each end that are more rectangular with elongated culets and with long and triangular scissor cuts for the crown facets. Always a joy to find uniquely hand cut antique diamonds. And at three carats, this stands among the best of stackable antique diamond bands I've ever sourced.
This ever popular half hoop stacker band ring is in original 200 year old condition with original shank, crafted in 18k rosy gold with the antique diamonds set in cut down silver collets as was customary during the time to set the diamonds in white metal. The domed, closed backs are in gold and are foiled within to reflect the light. Gorgeous moody sparkle with quite a lot of glitter. The center three stones especially face up quite white with the foil still bright and reflective. Layers perfectly with other pieces but substantial for solo wear as well.
This is my dream ring, but it's not a good time for me to keep it so she's looking for a loving home.
Found in France, No hallmarks remain which is actually common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing or from wear, as was the case here as the piece shows evidence of a sizing. But sold to me from a reputable source in France where the standard is 18k and tested to confirm.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 8 on my mandrel with the shank oval, likely done to increase the size without bending the ring face. Weighs 3.5 Grams.
Ring face is 7.5mm north to south on the finger with the diamonds spanning 20mm east to west and 5.3mm tall off the finger with the domed back and high crowns.
Exact depth and thereby carat weight is unknown as I would never remove them from the setting but looking at the high crowns, we know they are chunkier cuts. Estimating a total carat weight of around three carats. Just measuring the exposed portions (they widen out an unknown amount in the collets) - The center stone is 6.5mm and at least 1.1 carat alone. The next two are 5mm and around .6 carat each? The remaining four, two on each end are more rectangular / elongated with a pair at 3.8mm and a pair at 3.5mm.
CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamonds with their one of a kind eccentricities. The end diamonds read warm to gray from age and deterioration to the foil and they all have varying slightly warm hues, having been cut from mines in the period that produced warmer rough stones. But I will also say that some of what you see is from the high crowns and the way they reflect the light. Also typical for antique stones, hand cut in much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds produced each year now, they have some natural inclusions. The two squarish stones each have carbon spots and one of the smaller elongated stones has a carbon silk inclusion carrying up to the surface leaving a tiny crease. The center stone also has a few flecks. One of the smallest stones has a nibble to the crown facet. They do not appear frosty or dingy overall. These extra chunky cuts reflect the light like no other in their perfectly imperfect and charming antique way.
Original Shank is still sturdy but with evidence of a sizing and somewhat oval. Some patina. There is some wear to the silver collets with the center stone appearing to have been reinforced with more of a bezel form as I can see a bit of solder under magnification. A few of the stones can shift slightly when I check them under magnification from this wear. None appear to be in immediate danger but again, gentler wear on this highly collectible antique piece is usually preferred by collectors over trying to repair the collets which can affect its antique look. One crease to one of the domed backs with a tiny pinhead puncture but the domed backs are in good condition overall (they are often covered in dings and dents on pieces of this age). An exceptional stacker with a wonderful antique look. But due to age, please note this is not a mint condition item. These need more careful wear also in that the closed / foiled settings should not get wet as the moisture causes deterioration to the foil and discoloration.
Please see my website for more photos, I have many more than the 10 allotted here. I don't like to "oversell" my pieces but I will say as a general rule, closed / foil backed settings don't always photograph as true to life and can often appear better in person than in pictures.
Will be sent with additional insurance, expedited delivery and signature confirmation upon delivery at my cost.
