Chunky Natural Pale Blue SAPPHIRE Knife Edge Domed Bombe Ring Band French Vintage 14k Gold Retro Statement Stacker East West Oval Cornflower

I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

The color of this natural sapphire! And the drama of the setting! The east west oval of the cornflower indigo sapphire is just a superstar, suspended above a fun and funky domed setting with knife edge shank all the way around. It seems to light up from within, even in ambient light, it's unreal. Kind of a futuristic setting and retro at the same time. Nice sized oval stone with a gorgeous pop of color.

Found in France, it is crafted in 14k gold with their hallmark. The gold has a lovely pale yellow glow. It's an interesting one with such a unique setting highlighting the wonderful natural stone. Tiny single cut diamonds are set into each shoulder for a glint of sparkle.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 7 to the center of the shank. I think it fits just slightly snugger due to the width of the substantial setting.

The ring face is 7.7mm north south and stands 4mm off the finger. The piece weighs 6.9 grams. The shank is nice and thick but for the size it has a lighter weight hand feel with vacant space in the shank compared to some I have had that are solid all the way through.

The sapphire is about 9x7mm. It's somewhere round 2.5 carats, I would not remove it for exact measurements.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The sapphire has a beautiful color, sheen and polish to the table with just three facet edges along the outside that show some wear and abrasions. These can sometimes catch the light but to the eye with normal wear it has a beautiful sparkle and sheen and the color is fantastic. The sapphire has a really nice clarity with just one dark spot inclusion on one side seen only under magnification. The setting shows some wear. There is a shallow impression that appears like a ripple here or there and plenty of surface wear that can catch the light due to the mirrored finish of the gold. There are rub marks to the gold on the right and left side of the sapphire. The base of the sapphire extends beyond the shank on the inside of the ring so it comes into contact with the finger. It is not a sharply pointed stone but it can be felt when you rub the ring against the finger. Once on, I do not find it uncomfortable to wear but this is something to keep in mind especially if it is worn very tightly on a finger. The stone moves slightly. When I got it, it really teetered so I had a jeweler check and tighten it so it is well secure, but can still move a bit.

The diamonds appear gray because they are set into the band with a closed back. One is frosty, the other is chipped so the surface of it is unpolished but it still fills the space and appears complete as they are very small. Again the setting shows wear but the stone is a star.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear to the gold, scratches or inclusions to the stone that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
