Chunky Natural SAPPHIRE Rose Cut DIAMOND Three Stone 8.4mm Wide Band Heavy 18k Gold Victorian

ABOUT:

A striking chunky three stone band. This one is fun to wear with the glowing cabochon natural sapphire shooting out the blue color from within, while flanked by two nice sized disco ball rose cuts with nicely domed tops. The stones are each around 5mm with flat backs giving it the appearance of 1 carat of diamonds based on how they face up (as rose cuts are more spready than brilliant cuts).

Amazing color and sparkle, layers beautifully but also substantial enough to wear alone. The rose cuts reflect the light in such a beautiful way.

Found in France although it may have been made elsewhere with the inside hallmark. French hallmarks for 18k gold on the outside with a K18 stamp inside as well.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Snug Size 6 1/2
Ring face: 8.5mm north south, 5.6mm tall off the finger
Weight: a sturdy 8.1 grams

Diamonds: Like most rose cuts they have a lower comparative carat weight than a modern diamond but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. Rose cut diamonds are typically quite spready. So it is difficult to speculate on carat weight when we can’t determine depth without removing them from the setting, which I would never do. But if you were to compare the diameters to brilliant cut diamonds, this piece has the appearance of one carat diamond ring (half carat on each side).

CONDITION NOTES:
Nice quality hand feel with heft and the rose cuts have a nice dome and clarity compared to some of the antique stones we see that are more thinly sliced and/or heavily included. One has a crystal inclusion that looks like a flake within it at the center and another crystal along one side that appears like a crease within, very pale (no dark or carbon) but they can catch the light to become eye visible (but not to my eyes which are in their forties : ). The other diamond is completely eye clean. Nice to see no chips or cracks as sometimes rose cuts have nibbled girdles. The sapphire has a scratch but again not eye visible to me, perhaps you can detect it on the 20x zoom photos which will amplify it significantly more than with normal wear.

A sturdy setting and none of the stones move but you'd want to keep an eye on the prongs over time. As expected for age, some of the wider corner "prongs" or setting have wear, but each stone also has prongs on the north south ends that have plenty of length left.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
