Clover Rivet Shimmering French Antique 18g 18k GOLD Solid Rosy Book Chain Necklace Wide Mesh 17.25"

ABOUT:

Beautiful ornate antique chain to layer or wear alone. It is crafted with a mesh tube with applied clover shaped cutouts coming to a point on one side to add a lovely geometry. On the top of the mesh chain are circular gold discs applied all along the top. This piece is crafted in 18k solid gold, which has a rich warm antique patina that reads quite rosy for the clover and disks and with a richer yellow gold hue to the mesh chain. I just love the look of antique gold like this! The clasp at the back is nearly invisible as the catch is patterned to match the chain. It shimmers and catches the light beautifully with a somewhat 3D affect from the mesh tube - very old fabrication to this late Georgian to early Victorian era piece.

French control hallmark on the loop used on 18k gold. Antique boxes / any additional items in displays in photos are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs a little over 18g. Stretched end to end it's 17 1/4 inches. The chain links are about 5.8mm wide from the back of the mesh to the edge of the clover detail. The thickness / depth of the mesh tube is 2.8mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Beautiful rich patina that has warmed the 18k gold - it has a beautiful glow. Considering age and intricate fabrication - There is a repair near the clasp at the back, very tidily done but has a gold strap in that one spot. This would not be very noticeable if at all while wearing. There is an additional weld around the center of the necklace but it is on the back side, so again, tidily done but a slight interruption to the intricate mesh link and some discoloration and solder that is slightly visible at the top of the tube, but again mostly on the back side. It appears the clasp has been repaired as there also some weld marks near the clasp around three of the end clover details and on the opposite end with some slight verdigris to the solder. The clasp works very well and snaps closed. Some signs of it being worn from age, where there is a very slight / gradual curve, or a ripple here or there but still very stable. Some surface wear but this is only seen if you study it up close due to the mirrored finish. To the eye and while wearing it as an amazing color and shine, like I said it truly glows and it looks like something you'd see in a period piece movie. Special fabrication but does have evidence of age.
