Wonderful French antique cross rosary ring from the 1800s with black enamel stripes leaving a striking design on the oval ring face. Buttery gold patina. This originally had rivets around the shank, intentional to the Rosary / Hail Marys so the wearer could run their finger along them while praying and meditating. Now only two very faintly remain so they may have been lost in a sizing as well, otherwise it was very frequently and faithfully used : )
This is an antique piece that I acquired in France from the 1800s Victorian era.
No hallmarks remain as they are frequently lost in sizing due to the French location of stamping on the back of the shank. Sold to me as 18k from a reputable source and tested to confirm. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from the pics.
Antique boxes, props, staircases and bannisters ; ) not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 3/4, a little over. The ring face measures 9.7x7mm, the dainty piece weighs 1.15g.
Still perfectly wearable and legible. A little enamel loss but still well striped. A unique design.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
