CROWNED HEART Antique GEORGIAN Era Foiled Citrine Flat Cut Garnet Halo 14k Gold Ring
CROWNED HEART Antique GEORGIAN Era Foiled Citrine Flat Cut Garnet Halo 14k Gold Ring
ABOUT:
Awesome antique 18k gold ring with a pear shaped citrine with crimson red garnet halo in the shape of a crowned heart. This pear shape was commonly used to represent a heart during the Georgian to early Victorian eras.
I love the unique coloring with the two stones. The citrine is lighter with a warm and moody glow. The garnets all appear original and old cut, some quite cut flat cut. Ornate shoulders and wide and sturdy shank.
Found in England, no hallmarks remain but shank and ring face test at 14k with a warm, rosy patina.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a snug size 6 3/4. It weighs 4.8 grams. Ring face is 19x 12mm. The citrine is about 10x6mm.
CONDITION NOTES:
Considering its age of over 200 years, the foil is in pretty good shape. It's a little discolored around the rim of the citrine and at the bottom point but does not appear too muddy or rusty, and definitely still reads as yellow. Surface where to the stones with some nicks and abrasions and a few deeper scratches but no cracked stones or big chips. There is a nibble to the upper left side of the citrine. Inside the shank, there are two straps of gold that were added right at the shoulders connecting to the ring face to add stability and there is some gray solder around that area. This is not very evident while wearing as it is tucked under the ring face so you have to study it from the side and it is more visible on the underside. I do believe it was always a ring, it looks like it was just reinforced from wear. The patinas match and aside from the addition of the two little straps, the piece is in all original condition.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Very sweet piece from a very special era. I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
